No doubt about it, the past year has been challenging in many different ways. As we approach finals week, we want to send a reminder of resources available to students year-round.
The Student Success Center, located inside Lesh Arena in Room 55, is dedicated to students' academic and personal success. A brief summary of student resources include:
- Behavioral and counseling related services
- Testing/Proctoring services
- Accommodations for students with disabilities
- Classroom support
- Academic advising
- Career coaching
Counselors are available for these services, or even just a listening ear. Visit the Student Success Center web page for more in-depth information into each service.
Counselor Amanda Wade shared a resource on calming practices during Finals week for those experiencing test anxiety. Some suggestions include:
- Keep your body fueled and have a low-fat high-protein snack before studying
- Get good sleep, avoid cramming the night before and caffeinated drinks the morning of
- Light daily exercise for a healthier focus
- Try guided meditation for calm and relaxation
- Write down test dates in advance, studying one week in advance
- Try different study techniques to find what best helps you, note cards, reading aloud, etc

And as a reminder, it's important to finish strong as the semester comes to a close. Attend class, complete assignments and remember to breathe. We have faced and overcome a lot of challenges this year, and we have accomplished a lot. There is so much to be proud of!
It's a great day to be a Beaver!! #damgoodfuture
