About Us

Our Mission:

The mission of the Student Success Center is primarily focused on student personal and academic success which guides our interactions with students. We seek positive outcomes for students by carefully attending to the barriers they are experiencing with the goal of self-empowerment and behavioral change on the part of those students in a case management approach. In addition, our mission includes support for academic advisors, attendance policy implementation, administering standardized tests, proctoring tests for internal and external instructors and agencies, monitoring course prerequisites, coordination of counseling services, overseeing ADA accommodations and support for students with disabilities.

What we do:

Personal & Academic Guidance
We are here to help you achieve success. If you encounter barriers to success we want to help you overcome them. We talk with students about everything from homesickness to academic struggles. We have a caring staff that is dedicated to providing academic support to help you achieve your career and life goals.

Placement Testing/Exit Exams
Pratt Community College requires all degree-seeking students to take an assessment test for placement in English, Reading, and Mathematics prior to registration in classes. If you have not taken the ACT or another placement test, you may take the ACCUPLACER test in the Student Success Center. We also coordinate and administer the Workkeys and ETS examinations.

Special Needs Services
At Pratt Community College, special needs services are provided, in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, in order to improve access to educational opportunities. If you had an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), used academic accommodations in high school and/or you are interested in using accommodations at PCC you should submit a request to the Student Success Center. We will schedule a meeting to discuss your needs.

Monitoring of Academic Progress and Attendance
At PCC we believe that an indicator of success is being present in your classes. One of the functions of the SSC is to monitor attendance and grades. If we determine that you may be struggling, we will contact you to offer our services. PCC has an attendance policy. Please see the student handbook for more details.

Academic Alerts
Academic Alerts are generated by the instructor when concern about the student's academic performance warrants. We receive the alert and contact the student to offer our services. Academic/Attendance Alerts are distributed to the student, advisor, coach, or activity sponsor and other parties with a need to know.
