General Description and Purpose
Perform secretarial duties for assigned full-time and adjunct faculty members. May be called on for other work as time allows. This position follows the faculty calendar semester start/end dates, faculty non-work days (August-May).
Primary Functions/Responsibilities
- Perform basic secretarial duties may include the preparation of tests, syllabi, worksheets, official correspondence and other instructional related documents for faculty.
- Maintain the operation of the assigned faculty office areas including: telephone operation, reception and scheduling of persons wishing to visit with faculty, monitoring of traffic in office area, awareness of faculty office hours, coordination of required faculty responses to official information requests.
- Responsible to establish working priorities so that an equitable allocation of assistant’s time is available to all assigned faculty for duties listed above as well as other PCC duties.
- Assist the Admin. Asst. to VP of Instruction as time allows.
Coordination and Accountability Tasks
Reports to assigned department chairs with general supervision by the Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Instruction.

- Excellent skills in use of Microsoft Office 365, email, and the internet
- Good telephone and personal etiquette
- Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure at times
- Organizational skills/setting priorities
- Flexible with working on several projects at one time
- Must be willing to continuously improve skills
- Must be able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Must be able to manage a high traffic work area; assist in keeping distractions to a minimum
Experience
- At least one year prior experience as an office assistant or similar experience required.
- At least one year of prior experience providing assistant services to multiple people is preferred.
Education
- High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Secretarial training preferred.

Work is conducted in a high traffic office environment.
