General Description and Purpose
The Office Assistant in Office of Admissions is the receptionist and point of contact for visitors, walk-in customers, prospective students, parents and staff.
Primary Functions/Responsibilities
- Serve as receptionist and point of contact for visitors, walk-in customers, prospective students, parents, and staff as needed.
- Answer incoming departmental communications including, but not limited to telephone calls, admissions email listserv, and texts while taking appropriate action as needed.
- Entry of data pertaining to all admissions and enrollment processes, residence life and/or student records.
- Update and maintain student records and daily reports as directed.
- Assist with mailing of general information to students as requested.
- Clerical duties as assigned: data entry, typing, filing, telephone correspondence, bulk mailings and daily reports.
- Assist with early registration sessions and special event days as directed by the Director of Admissions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong clerical skills including: keyboarding and data entry, word processing, database, spreadsheets, web-based programs, and records management.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills.
- High level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Exhibit a professional appearance and welcoming presence at all times.
- Work in a student-centered environment and understand and support the mission, philosophy, vision, goals and objectives of PCC and a comprehensive community college.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be neat, dependable, have work initiative, work amicably with others and have the ability to follow directions.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise effective time management.
Experience
- One year administrative support or office experience required; two years or more administrative support or office experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
- Two years computer experience required.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree + preferred.

Work Conditions/Environment
Work is performed primarily in an office setting on the campus.
