The actions of all students, faculty and staff over the Holiday Break can have a big impact on what everything looks like when Athletics, Activities and Spring classes resume in January.
Pratt Community College health nurse Leigh Ann Hall offers the following guidelines regarding COVID-19 for gatherings and activities over the break, especially as student athletes will be returning to campus early.
COVID-19 Guidelines
- Getting a flu shot before returning to campus can greatly reduce the chances of spreading the flu virus, and help distinguish between flu or COVID-19 symptoms.
- Masking, social distancing and avoiding large gatherings 2 weeks prior to the return to campus will greatly reduce the spread of illness. (Being mindful of these measures now is important, given the 12-day duration of the holiday break that begins December 23, 2020.)
- Anyone currently in isolation or quarantine should remain in their location until they have completed their 10-14 days, and should not travel.
- Anyone having cold or flu-like symptoms should stay away from campus until those symptoms have been resolved for at least 2-3 days.
- If you know you have been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19, quarantine at home for at least 10 days. If symptoms develop during the 10 days, get tested for COVID-19 in the area where you are located. For example, a student staying at a parent's home during the holiday break should get tested there before returning to campus.
Holiday Break Information
Pratt Community College is closed for business and the holiday break from December 23, 2020 to January 3, 2021. Offices will reopen on January 4, 2021.
Residence halls will reopen January 19, 2021 and Spring classes begin January 20, 2021.
Doing our part to stop the spread now will give us the best possible chance for a strong return for the Spring 2021 semester.
