Welding Technology - Degree and Certificate

The Pratt Community College Welding Technology Program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to join or cut metal surfaces. Courses include instruction in arc welding, resistance welding, brazing and soldering, cutting, high-energy beam welding and cutting, solid state welding, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, oxidation-reduction reactions, welding metallurgy, welding processes and heat treating, structural design, safety, and applicable codes and standards.

PCC Welding Technology is a hands-on program in which students work in a shop environment with industry-level equipment. Students have the opportunity to do real world work projects for customers in the live shop, building the needed work experience that is valuable to the workforce and vital when seeking jobs in industry.

Students take multiple industry related certification exams.  Students are required to pass the following American Welding Society SENSE Level I certification exams:  Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.  In addition, the PCC Welding Program affords students the opportunity to take Lincoln certification exams through NC3.  These include (but are not limited to) blueprint reading, various cutting certifications, and fabrication certifications. Welding will be done in the following position for first year welding students: F1, G2, F2, and G2. Second year students will become proficient in these following welding positions: F2, G2, F3, G3, F4 and G4.

Qualified faculty are industry certified. Through professional development and industry opportunities, these master technicians are constantly learning the latest technology and earning additional certifications vital for ensuring their instruction remains current with industry expectations.
