Associate of Arts in Humanities with an emphasis in English/Literature
Composition courses develop students’ abilities to express creativity, critical thought, and argument in writing and include English Composition I, English Composition II, and Creative Writing. Courses in literature, such as Introduction to Literature, American Literature, and Young Adult Literature, introduce students to literary study, close reading, and evaluative and interpretive thinking and writing. The department also prepares students majoring in technical areas for their transition to work with a workplace writing course.
English class sizes are small enough for meaningful discussion and personal interaction, and instructors are accessible to students outside of class. Online courses are available, as well, for added flexibility.
