Vacant Positions Within Other Departments

Employees may make application to be considered for vacant positions within other departments, and are encouraged to do so when it results in promotion or higher pay. Employees may also make application to be considered for vacant positions within other departments that are considered horizontal (positions of similar status and pay). However, before the position may be offered to the employee, the employee’s current supervisor and new supervisor must be in agreement that the horizontal movement would be in the best interest of the College, both supervisors must agree to a timeline for the reassignment, and both supervisors must agree to transfer the employees current rate of pay (if higher due to years of service).
All employees must notify their current supervisors if they have been selected for an interview in another department.
