Pratt Community College Launches “See Art Differently” Lecture Series
Pratt Community College is inviting the community to explore the world of art through a brand-new, free public program: the Art Lecture Series. Running across three months — July, September, and February — the series will feature 10 lectures designed to help attendees see art differently, whether they’re lifelong art lovers or newcomers to the subject.
Each lecture will be held in Riney 312 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, and all sessions are free and open to the public.
The series begins in July with three sessions covering foundational concepts and influential figures in art history, including a look at the lives and legacies of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael. September shifts focus toward representation and perspective, spotlighting Indigenous artists, the Impressionist movement, and the ways art shapes who gets seen and remembered. The series concludes in February with explorations of Romanticism, the technical anatomy behind great works, the Modernist movement, and a tribute to the life and legacy of Frida Kahlo.
The series is organized and presented by Tyler Dallis, who also created the artwork and photography featured in the program’s promotional materials. Those with questions about the series can reach Dallis directly at tylerd@prattcc.edu.
Whether you attend one lecture or all ten, the Art Lecture Series offers the Pratt community a chance to engage with art history, technique, and meaning in an accessible, welcoming setting. No registration or art background required — just curiosity.
