PCC Chemistry Students Present Research at 2026 ACS Regional Conference

Four Pratt Community College students traveled to the 2026 American Chemical Society (ACS) Regional Conference in late October, joining Dr. Paul Primrose for a trip that gave them a firsthand look at current work in chemistry. Two of the students presented their own research.

The group left the PCC campus at noon on Sunday, October 25. Although the conference ran more than two days, the PCC group attended from the opening plenary talk at 5:00 p.m. Sunday through the undergraduate research poster session on Monday afternoon. They left the conference at 5:00 p.m. Monday.

Throughout Monday morning and afternoon, all four students attended chemical research presentations, both oral and poster. Dr. Primrose said the students shared how much they appreciated the opportunity. Their excitement about the work they had seen was clear in the conversations on the ride home.

Two of the students presented at the conference. One gave a talk on research carried out at PCC over the last few years. The other presented more recent work at PCC to develop an easy, stoichiometry-focused lab that also highlights the importance of recycling.

Opportunities like this give PCC students a chance to share their work, learn from researchers across the region, and see where their studies can lead.
