Melton Powe Wins National Title as Beavers Shine at NJCAA Wrestling Championship

Melton Powe dominated the competition at the NJCAA Men’s Wrestling Championship in Council Bluffs, Iowa, clinching the National Championship title at 165 pounds. His victory headlined a strong showing for the Beavers, who secured a 9th place team finish with three wrestlers earning All-American honors.

Powe, the top-ranked competitor in his weight class, was joined by heavyweight James Bankston, ranked No. 2 at 285 pounds, and Johnny Cash Thomas, ranked No. 7 at 157 pounds. Both Bankston and Thomas battled their way to seventh-place finishes, cementing their status among the nation’s best.
