Women's Soccer Begins Strong Spring Campaign

12 February 2014

Your PCC women’s soccer team competed in a 6v6 indoor tournament in Hesston, Kan. on Feb. 8. The team went 3-1 in group play (PCC-2/Hesston-1; PCC-5/Garden CC-1; PCC-1/Butler CC-5; PCC-6/Southwestern College-1).

The Lady Beavers finished second in their group, behind only Butler CC, and advancing to the knockout rounds, where they fell to Hesston Alumni 1-2.

Lauren Snyder, Rachael Roller, and Jack Finley provided most of the scoring while Kelsey Kurek, Maranda Gussman, Viante Ellison, Lindsey Keais, Callie Hampton, Katie Caron, and Cheyenne Young steadied up the defense. Yessica Rodriguez spent the whole day in the nets and made some incredible saves to keep her team at the top of the group.

“I was disappointed in losing in the knockout stages, but I was happy with the level of play and poise our girls showed," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Jerrid Schicke.

PCC women’s soccer will be competing in three more 6v6 tournaments this spring before wrapping up the year with a friendly against Central Christian in April.
