Women's Basketball Defeats Garden City
The Beavers jumped out to a huge lead early in the contest and never looked back. Garden City was held scoreless until roughly the 12:30 minute mark of the first half and the scoreboard showed the Beavers leading by 18. The final score was 72-49.
The girls took a 37-15 lead into the break and enjoyed the lead the rest of the contest. Tatiana Grant is recovering from an injury and did not play in the final 10 minutes.
The Beavers were led by Maddie Pendry with her best performance of the season, scoring 22 points and dishing out three assists. Grant scored 18, grabbed nine boards, and had five assists and three steals in 29 minutes. Elle Stein and Nina Spence each scored eight points while Sherry Calhoun pulled down nine rebounds.
"If you weren’t able to attend the women’s game last night, you missed one heck of a performance by your Beavers," said Head Coach Stephanie Thompson. "This was without question the best all around team performance from the Beavers all season."
The Beavers will host Colby on Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. with the men playing at 8 p.m. We will induct the 2014 Athletic Hall of Fame class, recognize our sophomores, and welcome our recruits from the state of Texas.
