Two athletes from the Women's Volleyball team, were recognized with All-Conference honors this week from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, as the conference named their All-Conference teams.
Earning nomination for Second Team All-Conference was Kylee Pywell, sophomore from Plainville, Kan. Pywell, an Outside Hitter, made the team for the first time of her collegiate career.
Earning Honorable Mention from the KJCCC was Darian Konrade, freshman from Ashland, Kan. Konrade, also an Outside Hitter, was also nominated to the All-Conference team for the first time.
The Lady Beavers volleyball team traveled to conference rival Barton Community College last night and in a four set match came up short 1 - 3.
"Even with a night of amazing defensive plays and offense from everyone we came up with unforced errors again in the crucial moments." Dickens said. "If the Beavers can cut down their unforced errors they proved they can play with anyone."
The Beavers are next in action at Seminole State against a strong Jefferson Community College out of Missouri and Seminole State which is a perennial power on Saturday in Oklahoma.
On Monday night the Lady Beavers went to Seward and were defeated by a 3-0 count. The Lady Beavers were once again sluggish and got off to a slow start and lost 25- 9 in the opener.
In Game 2, the Lady Beavers kept up with the Saints for 9 points but then 5 unforced errors gave the lead, and the rest of the game, to the Saints 25 - 13.
In Game 3, the Beavers came out storming and had the lead until 14 - 14 when an unforced error and a disputable call on Elisa Seumanu's set gave the Saints the lead. Fighting back, but coming up short, the Lady Beavers went down 25 - 19.
Hutchinson, Kan., -- Thursday night the Lady Beavers took on the Blue Dragons from Hutchinson Community College.
The Lady Beavers started off slowly once again and went down 1 -0 in game one with a score of 12 - 25. Game 2 was close throughout but Hutch pulled away on a couple of Beaver errors to win it 19 - 25. Game 3 started off tight and stayed that way until late, when the Dragons pulled away with a 17 - 25 win for a 3- 0 match victory.
Pratt, Kan., -- The Lady Beaver Volleyball team took a 3 - 1 win over conference rival, the Dodge City Conquistadors, at Dennis Lesh Sports Arena on Thursday evening. The Lady Beaver started out the game slowly once again, but as is becoming their identity, they stormed back to win the last two sets with defense and some very timely hitting.
Lamar, Col., -- Over the weekend the Beaver Volleyball team traveled to Larmar Community College in Colorado where they defeated Hesston College, Colorado Northwestern, and were defeated by Lamar Community College. On Saturday the Lady Beavers avenged their defeat against Lamar CC before falling to Otero and Trinidad State.
Pratt Community College is pleased to announce the signing of Camera Broadnax. She will join the volleyball team for the 2012-2013 season.
Camera comes to Pratt Community College from Grand Praire, Texas.
After a slow start and a very one-sided 25 - 10 score in favor of the home team Dragons of Hutchinson Community College, the Lady Beavers came back to win a 30 - 28 thriller in set two. Another a few missed chances to take the lead in set three, the Lady Beavers ended with a 25 - 15 loss to the Dragons.
