Pratt Community College has played seven matches over the past week and compiled a 5-2 record in a short period of time.
Last week, PCC faced Garden City Community College on Sept. 29, and was able to utilize their aggressive serving and defense to sweep the match in three sets. They defeated Garden City 25-22, 25-15 and 25-20.
On Oct. 1, PCC ventured to Seward and was handed their third conference loss of the season. PCC was unable to get any offense started as Seward dominated the stat sheet from every angle. PCC lost the match 20-25, 16-25 and 21-25.
Pratt Community College volleyball got a road win on Sept. 29 at Garden City Community College. The Lady Beavers swept the Busters 25-22, 25-15 and 25-20.
Pratt showed a consistent performance throughout the first two sets, attacking nearly the same as a team .258 and .259 respectively. The third set was not their best of the night but they were able to hold on to take the match in three sets.
Dennis Lesh Sports Arena was electric during last night’s match up against Colby Community College. The Pratt Community College fans set the tempo early for a few errors by the Colby offense. While each set started off close, PCC was able to pull away at the end of each set to sweep Colby in three sets: 25-18, 25-23 and 25-19.
Balance was the name of the game for PCC. While the Lady Beavers compiled a team high of 40 kills, no single player was in double digits. Kelsey Hitch, nine kills, Jessica Sanders, nine, Jocelyn Cochran, eight, and McKenzie Turner, seven.
Immediately following the Independence match, PCC faced Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. In set one, PCC was able to overcome an 8-16 deficit to win the set 25-23. Second and third sets were not as close as PCC won 25-17 and 25-20. Amber Culwell led PCC again with 13 kills. Jocelyn Cochran added 10 and Mariana Silva had 7. Leaders for the team defensively were Kaci Copland with 13 digs, Cochran with 12 digs and Hansen with 11 digs.
PCC was able to defeat East Central College in a decided three sets. Jocelyn Cochran lead the Beaver team with 13 kills, Culwell and Sanders each added eight and Turner had five. Defensively, Kaci Copeland lead the team with 24 digs.
Pratt Community College volleyball went undefeated at the Norse Invitational in Miami, Okla on Sept. 5-6.
They started slow against Labette County on Friday, dropping the first set, but rallied back to win the match in four. Amber Culwell lead the team with 11 kills and 26 digs. Turner and Sanders each added eight kills and Cochran added seven.
