Soccer Receives All-Conference Honors

Eight Pratt Community College soccer players were recognized with All-Conference honors this week from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) in the All-Conference teams.

On the men’s side, the Beavers placed five guys on the Second Team: defenders Sam Nobo and David Nobo, midfielders Declan Fitzpatrick and Greg Roller, and forward James Gragson. Jose Vaquera was named Honorable Mention.

On the ladies' side, defender Wynter Keetso was named to the Second Team and Ashley Contreras was named Honorable Mention .

Men's Soccer Defeated by Cloud in Playoffs

On Oct. 30, the Pratt Community College men’s soccer team traveled to Cloud County Community College to face off in the first round of Region VI playoffs against the T-Birds.

The Beavers jumped to an early lead midway through the first half when James Gragson chipped over the opposing goal keeper on an assist from goalie Luis Fernandez. The T-Birds equalized on a penalty kick and at the half time break the score was 1-1.

Men Defeat Hesston, Women Tie

On Saturday, the Pratt Community College women's soccer team finished off the season against Hesston College with a 1-1 tie.

"The ladies kept up the their fine play of late, and could have easily taken the lead on several occasions," said Head Coach Kevin Kewley. "Hesston took the lead in the second half, but once again the Beavers showed a fighting spirit, and tied the game up with just minutes to play on a great 30-yard shot from Jacklyn Finley."

In overtime, neither team scored and the game finished 1-1 .

Men's Soccer Defeats Barton, Women Tie Scoreless

On Oct. 23, the Lady Beavers took on the Barton Cougars in what their coach called their best game of the year.

"The ladies were up for the fight from the opening whistle, and matched Barton in every aspect," said Head Coach Kevin Kewley. "Both teams had chances to score in the first half, but neither team could convert so the half time score was 0-0. The second half was pretty much the same with neither team able to convert their chances."

Men and Women's Soccer Defeat Cowley

The Pratt Community College men's and women's soccer teams hosted the Cowley College Tigers on Oct. 21 on the Pratt campus.

The Lady Beavers took a 3-0 win over Cowley. Rachel Roller, Jacklyn Finley and Ashley Contreras each scored a goal, and Allie Ehlers had two assists. Magali Vazquez got the shut out in the nets for the Beavers, and Wynter Keetso made some excellent plays on defense.

Men's and Women's Soccer Falls to Dodge City

The Pratt Community College men's and women's soccer teams played at Dodge City on Oct. 10

"The girls played a tough game once again, but still came up short," said Head Coach Kevin Kewley. "Our offense is still not taking our chances in front of goal, and once again we were shut out. Ashley Contreras was close a number of times, but the Dodge keeper made several fine saves to deny her."

Dodge City scored late in the game to take the 1-0 victory.

Men's Soccer Defeats Johnson County, Women Take the Loss

On Sept. 29, the Pratt Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams squared off against two very competitive teams in the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers.

The women, despite a hard fought game were outclassed and could not find the net in a game that ended with a 5-0 defeat.

Women's Soccer Falls to Allen, Men Take the Win

On Sept. 23, the Lady Beavers took on a powerful Allen Community College soccer team on the Pratt campus, and although they played with their usual passion and desire, it wasn’t enough to take the win.

The Lady Beavers played very well in the first half, and the score was tied 0-0 at the half. In the second half Allen poured on the pressure, and scored four unanswered goals to secure a 4-0 win.

Men's Soccer Defeats Hesston, Women Take the Loss

On Sept. 19, the Pratt Community College men's and women’s soccer teams traveled to take on the Hesston Larks.

The Lady Beavers, who are suffering injuries to key players, came out slowly. After soaking up the Hesston pressure , the Beavers took the lead on a headed goal from Rachel Roller on an assist from Allie Ehlers. Hesston was awarded a penalty kick just a few minutes before the half time whistle, and scored to tie the game at 1-1 going into the half. The Beavers struggled in the second half, and Hesston scored a late goal to give the Lady Beavers a 2-1 loss.

Men's Soccer Defeats NOC, Women Take the Loss

The Pratt Community College men's and women’s soccer teams traveled to Tonkawa, Okla. on Sept. 17 to take on the nationally ranked Northern Oklahoma College teams.

The half time score in the women's game was 5-0 in NOC's favor, and at half time, Head Coach Kevin Kewley talked about having pride and showing desire to keep NOC from scoring again. The team did keep NOC scoreless in the second half, and the final score was 5-0 to NOC.
