Legislators Visit PCC for Annual Luncheon

On Dec. 15, Pratt Community College held their annual Legislative Luncheon where PCC administrators and trustees met with state legislators to share ideas, concerns and discuss issues of importance to education and community colleges.
 
In attendance were Senator Mitch Holmes of District 33, Representative J. Basil Dannebohm of District 113, Representative Jack Thimesch of District 114, Representative Kyle Hoffman of District 116 and Representative John Ewy of District 117.
 

Power-pack line-up speaks at PCC

Representatives from all 19 community colleges in Kansas and legislators from the state came to Pratt Community College in mid-September for the Kansas Association of Community College Trustees quarterly meetings.

During the meetings, they had a reception at the Vernon Filley Art Museum and listened to many speakers, including Noah Brown, President/CEO of the Association of Community College Trustees.

Brown spoke about the role that community colleges play in America and how trustees can better advocate for the community colleges in their areas.

PCC Students Honored at State Capitol

On Feb. 13, two Pratt Community College students were honored in Topeka, Kan. as members of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society. PCC’s chapter, Phi Zeta, selected Diana Lara and Katelyn Kumberg, both of Pratt, as their representatives for the 2014 Kansas All-State Academic Team.

This is a distinguished group of scholars from community colleges across the state who are selected for their academic achievements and contributions to their college and community. These students will also be eligible for the All-USA Academic Team announced later this year.
