PCC Welcomes New Admissions Director

On Aug. 24, Pratt Community College welcomed Jackie Mundt as the new Director of Admissions and Recruiting.
 
“Jackie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team, having over five years of corporate sales, brand marketing, and customer accountability, forecasting and market analysis,” said Lisa Perez Miller, vice president of students and enrollment management. “We are fortunate to hire someone with Jackie’s credentials and I am confident she will bring many valuable attributes to our team.”
 

Board of Regents Announce Next Board President and CEO

(Topeka, Kansas) - The Kansas Board of Regents acted unanimously today at its April meeting to appoint Dr. Blake Flanders, beginning July 1, 2015, as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kansas Board of Regents.

Athletic Director Receives Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award

Kurt McAfee, director of athletics at Pratt Community College, was recently honored by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity (Kansas State University chapter) with its 2015 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.

The award is presented to graduates who have achieved high rank or honor in their professions, have a widespread effect on their communities, and are recognized for their achievements over the course of their careers.

Students become certified for class

Pratt Community College agriculture instructors find it important for students to get certified in different areas they are learning about.

“It is important for students to achieve these certifications in animal handling, food safety and quality assurance. The agriculture industry and consumer is starting to demand it of its producers,” said Lori Montgomery, agriculture instructor. “It allows our students to leave here with a certification even if they don’t leave with their degree for some reason.”

Pratt Community College Produces Highest Paid Grads in State

According to new data released by the Kansas Board of Regents, Pratt Community College students graduating with an associate’s degree between 2008 and 2012 have a higher annual wage than the average of associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree graduates in that same time from all Kansas public colleges and universities.
 

PCC Tuition Steady Amid State University Increases

On June 18, the Kansas Board of Regents approved the tuition and fees increase at Wichita State University. Full-time undergraduate Kansas residents will now pay 4.4 percent more in tuition and 7 percent more in fees, increasing the total cost to $7,3226 for one year of study at the standard 15-hour course load per semester.

Other increases across the state include a 4.9 percent tuition hike at the University of Kansas, and a Kansas State University increase of 5 percent in tuition and 7.4 percent in fees.
