Pratt Community College announces their hours for the Summer of 2017.

Summer hours begin Monday, May 22, 2017 and will extend through Friday, July 28, 2017. Operating business hours will be  7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

PCC instructor heading to Germany for educational seminar

A Pratt Community College instructor is trading in her beaver gear for lederhosen and traveling to Germany for a teacher’s workshop during the summer. Education instructor, Rhonda Westerhaus, was selected, along with 19 other teachers across the United States, by the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG) to participate in a three week-long workshop that will take place in Leipzig, Germany.

When most students think about enrolling for their college classes they don’t picture it happening in a hospital with their adviser lying in the hospital bed but this was just one of the many things that Pratt Community College ag instructor Lori Montgomery did while battling with cancer.

In August of 2005, Montgomery was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which is a cancer originating from white blood cells called lymphocytes. While she battling cancer for five years, Montgomery continued to work and be as active as possible. 

PCC Students Sign Completion Pledge

Last week, 146 students at Pratt Community College signed a mass completion pledge, an event that was hosted by the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The event is part of a national education initiative called the Community College Completion Challenge (C4) and asks students to commit to finishing their associate’s degree or certificates before leaving community college for transfer or to enter the job market.
 

Technology, diversity implemented during class assignment

Many teachers on Pratt Community College’s campus implement technology and diversity during their lectures and assignments.

Rhonda Westerhaus found a unique way incorporate both in her Children’s Literature class.
The class is watching the movie ‘Freedom Writers’ and then writing a blog about it and commenting on other students entries.
