Alumna says "PCC was the foundation to my degree"

“I loved PCC, it was my favorite year of college,” said Kimberly Brown, who attended Pratt Community College during the 2006-2007 school year.

Brown, who grew up in Pratt, said she originally attended PCC because she could get her general education classes out of the way while still living at home but saw many benefits later in life.

“The class sizes and availability of the teachers was wonderful,” she said. “I later saw how my decision to go to PCC made my foundation stronger than that of my peers.”

PCC Students Sign Completion Pledge

Last week, 146 students at Pratt Community College signed a mass completion pledge, an event that was hosted by the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The event is part of a national education initiative called the Community College Completion Challenge (C4) and asks students to commit to finishing their associate’s degree or certificates before leaving community college for transfer or to enter the job market.
 

Skyline Creates PCC Presidential Award

On Jan. 8, Skyline Schools presented six students with the Pratt Community College Presidential Award as part of a special awards assembly. The students awarded were seventh graders Brock Montgomery, Scott Ewing and Riley Washington, and eighth graders Gracie Bricker, Gabriel Flanders and Adison Hampton. 

K-8 Principal Becca Flowers said the two schools wanted to create an award which would challenge and recognize students based on a rubric of criteria for successful students. 

Auto alumni visits college

Loving his experience at Pratt Community College in the automotive department, 2008 graduate Oree Klein comes back to visit whenever he’s in town.

“Anytime I am in town I stop by to see what is going on and see the growth of the program,” he said. “It is fun to talk with the students.”

Klein said his positive experiences in the program are what make him want to come back, along with his respect for the instructors.

“Daryl and Greg have a lot of knowledge and know how to teach it.”

Pratt Community College Begins Academic Year Confidently

On Aug. 11, Pratt Community College Board of Trustees Chair Michele Hamm and President Michael Calvert welcomed the faculty back to campus and greeted staff members with a reception and “State of the College” address.

Hamm opened the address and shared her enthusiasm for the new school year.
