Men's Soccer shut out Independence Community College 8-0

The Beavers produced their best performance of the season on Friday, Sept. 21, against Independence Community College. Playing on an Independence field that was dry and bumpy, the Beavers led 7-0 going in to the half.

Defender Dominic Swinder led the way with 2 goals and 2 assists while Nik Bohne added 2 goals and Joe Pena,'Gordo' Rodriquez, and Braulio Morales each added one goal apiece. Gordon MacNab provided excellent service from the midfield and finished with 4 assists.

Lady Beavers defeat Independence Community College 3-0

The Lady Beavers were back on the Pitch Friday for a conference match away from home against Independence Community College.

Gemma Whitehead got on the score sheet in the first minute of play; bending a free kick over the wall, off the keeper's hands, and into the back of the net. The Beavers kept their foot on the gas the rest of the 1st half but failed to score again before the break.

Lady Beavers defeated in overtime by Cowley

The Pratt women were defeated by Cowley College Tuesday 1 nil in overtime.

"The Lady Beavers were the more aggressive team, but failed to capitalize on goal scoring opportunities," said Schicke.

Meridith McKee had a great showing in goal for the Lady Beavers recording 5 saves on 6 shots.

This leaves the girls at 1-4 in the conference play with 8 contests left.

"The girls played hard, but they just didn't do enough to win the game," said Schicke. "We will rest up a bit, and come out strong on the road Friday."

Lady Beavers fall 10-2 against Butler Grizzlies

The Lady Beavers faced their second nationally ranked team in as many matches September 16 at Butler County.

"The number six ranked Grizzlies were in good form, but the Beavers brought their never give up attitude," said Schicke.

The Lady Beavers were down by six goals at the half, but managed to dominate play in the opening 25 minutes of the second half. Jasmine Torrente scored a goal from 45 yards out after Holly Harrod had broke the Grizzlies defense and got a shot on goal. The rebound found its way to Jasmine for the Beavers first goal.

Defense delivers, errors create loss for Lady Beavers

The Lady Beavers volleyball team traveled to conference rival Barton Community College last night and in a four set match came up short 1 - 3.

"Even with a night of amazing defensive plays and offense from everyone we came up with unforced errors again in the crucial moments." Dickens said. "If the Beavers can cut down their unforced errors they proved they can play with anyone."

The Beavers are next in action at Seminole State against a strong Jefferson Community College out of Missouri and Seminole State which is a perennial power on Saturday in Oklahoma.

Cloud tops the Beavers 5-1

The Beavers hit the road Tuesday, Sept. 11, to take on the top ranked team in the nation, Cloud Community College.

After a closely contested first half, Cloud finally got the breakthrough with a goal just 20 seconds before the halftime whistle.

In the second half, playing with the wind at their back, the Beavers had chances to tie the up the match. However, after a couple of defensive blunders, Cloud added two more goals to take a 3-0 lead.

Lady Beavers travel to Seward, come home with loss

On Monday night the Lady Beavers went to Seward and were defeated by a 3-0 count. The Lady Beavers were once again sluggish and got off to a slow start and lost 25- 9 in the opener.

In Game 2, the Lady Beavers kept up with the Saints for 9 points but then 5 unforced errors gave the lead, and the rest of the game, to the Saints 25 - 13.

In Game 3, the Beavers came out storming and had the lead until 14 - 14 when an unforced error and a disputable call on Elisa Seumanu's set gave the Saints the lead. Fighting back, but coming up short, the Lady Beavers went down 25 - 19.

Cross Country Excels at Wild Wind Cross Country Festival

The Pratt Community College men and women's cross country team continued their 2012 campaign competing in the Wild West XC Festival on Saturday morning.

"The weather was cool and perfect conditions for an early season cross country meet," said Ryan Turner, Head Coach of Track & Field and Cross Country. "All three of our competing student-athletes showed tremendous improvement."

Lady Beavers fall to Hutchinson Community College 3-0

Hutchinson, Kan., -- Thursday night the Lady Beavers took on the Blue Dragons from Hutchinson Community College.

The Lady Beavers started off slowly once again and went down 1 -0 in game one with a score of 12 - 25. Game 2 was close throughout but Hutch pulled away on a couple of Beaver errors to win it 19 - 25. Game 3 started off tight and stayed that way until late, when the Dragons pulled away with a 17 - 25 win for a 3- 0 match victory.
