Women defeat Allen County in a close one, 57-54 Beavers

Last night the Beavers were back at home against a much improved Allen County. In the first half Pratt did a great job on the defensive end of limiting Allen to one look and forcing tough shots, holding the Red Devils to 6 of 30 from the field (shooting 20 percent). On the offensive end when the Beavers didn't turn the ball over, and they got good looks especially in the post as they took a 26-17 lead into the break.

Beavers overcome early foul trouble to defeat Allen County

Your Beaver Men's Basketball team faced off against Jayhawk East member Allen County last night in what Coach Shaw reported "turned out to be too exciting of a game for my taste," but the Beavers found a group who wanted to play hard and the right way in the second half, and that group led us to a 9 point victory.

The final score read 73-64, Beavers, and the Beavers moved to 4-1 on the year.

Women defeat Bethany, move to 4-0 on season

The Women's team also played their home opener this Saturday night as they took on Bethany Junior Varsity. It was a good chance for the Beavers to clean some things up before a tough upcoming schedule.

Pratt jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading 39-15 at the half. The second half was more of the same getting a balanced attack offensively and everyone playing solid minutes as the Beavers got a 72-34 win.

McComb and Keiswetter have strong showing at CMSU Open

The Pratt Wrestling Team had another strong showing at the Central Missouri State Open. This tournament, like the OCU open, showcased some of the top ranked talent in the nation. Programs included were Central Missouri State University, The University of Oklahoma, Lindenwood University, Missouri Valley College, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Missouri.

Two key performances included Skyler McComb at 133 lbs. and Landon "Tug" Keiswetter at 184 lbs.

Women topple Hesston in overtime, 3-0 on the year

The Women's Basketball team traveled to Hesston for their first true road game on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The Larks were 2-0 and came in averaging 85 points per game. It was their "community night" which meant free admission for anyone in town and was a good basketball environment.

The first half was a little sloppy back and forth as neither team could quite settle in with a lot of whistles from the officials. The Beavers managed to take a slim 33-31 lead to the break despite three of the starters being in foul trouble.

Men defeat Hesston, improve to 3-0 on the season

The Beaver Men's Basketball team traveled to Hesston, Kan. Tuesday to take on the Hesston College Larks. The tempo was set from the tip with a Lucas Stivrins dunk on the first possession, and the fellas put the clamps on last season's number three 3 (26 PPG) and number 11 (21 PPG) scorers in Division II Junior College basketball.

The Beaver Men's Basketball team traveled to Great Bend, Kan. last weekend to take on first year program Northwest Tech out of Goodland, Kan. and Ft. Scott, Kan.

Against Northwest Tech on Friday, PCC trailed the majority of the game until the Beavers found a group consisting of Javis Flynn (18 pts), Ralph Abraham (15 pts), Kazmere Boyd (9 pts), Aaron Abram (10 pts) and Deon Taylor 10 pts)

Lady Beavers pick up two road wins, 2-0 on the season

The Lady Beavers traveled to Hutchinson, Kan. this weekend to kick off the season. Friday afternoon, the Beavers tipped off the 2012-13 campaign against the Labette Cardinals.

Pratt jumped out to a quick start behind Maddie Pendry's long range shooting. Pendry hit two quick 3-pointers and was fouled on another and converted all 3 free-throws.

Late Pinfall lifts up Beavers past 29th ranked Northwest Tech

The Beavers traveled to Goodland, Kan. to dual the 29th ranked Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks on Thursday, Nov. 1. The Beavers squeaked out a win with a key pinfall by Taylor Baird late in the dual meet.

After forfeiting the first match at 125 lbs., the Beavers also had to forfeit at 174 lbs. due to an injury to Colten Picking. The Beavers showed poise and took care of business to focus on the win. The match was tied at the end of the dual succumbing to a decision of criteria which lead to the count of pinfalls. Pratt won that category of criteria with 3 pins to 2.

Beavers defeated in opening round of playoffs by Dodge

The Beavers ended the season yesterday with 1-0 loss to Dodge City Community College in the first round of the playoffs. In the first half the Beavers defense held firm, yet the offense created very few chances.

The second half was much more exciting soccer with Nik Bohne and Gordo Rodriquez going close to scoring for the Beavers. Scott Robertson in the nets for the Beavers came up some big saves, but Dodge City came up with a goal after 25 minutes into the half.
