PCC puts ADN program on hold to improve test passing rates

Pratt Community College has put its Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program on hold for one year to allow faculty the opportunity to conduct a complete transformative restructuring of the ADN program starting with the mission and concluding with sustainable and repeatable measures to help ensure a high quality program in the future. PCC was granted approval by the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) on Mar. 29, to voluntarily cease admissions to the ADN Program for one academic year.

Forum held for community to voice concerns about nursing program

A forum for healthcare and business representatives from the Pratt Community College service area was hosted on April 6 by the college. The purpose of the forum was to brief the group about the impact of the recent accreditation visit by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the national accrediting body. Thirty-five people attended the forum, including representative from health care agencies in Pratt, Medicine Lodge, Cunningham and Greensburg. Most of these agencies currently employee PCC nursing graduates.

Concerns identified in nursing accreditation site visit

On Thursday, March 12, 2015, the Associate Degree in Nursing Program (ADN) at Pratt Community College was informed by site visitors from its national accreditation agency, the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), that it would not recommend continued accreditation of the ADN Program to its board of commissioners.

The program was placed under warning status following the most recent ACEN site visit in 2012.
