PCC kicks off Spring semester with first annual Winterfest

The week of Jan. 22-27, Pratt Community College, is celebrating 80 years of spirt by hosting the first annual Winterfest Week. The week of events includes a talent show, bon fire pep rally, Beaver wrestling, a formal dance and the first ever Winterfest Royalty King and Queen.

“We wanted to create a tradition,” said Charles Keefer, Director of Student Life. “Something that we can look forward to each year that involves community and that gives students an opportunity to stand out and take part in and that’s where the idea of King and Queen came to be.”

Winterfest King and Queen is an important and visible role at PCC. The King and Queen represent all the best of student life, leadership, scholarship, community involvement and beyond. Students can be nominated by departments and organizations to be considered for the crowns. During Winterfest 10 candidates, 5 for King and 5 for Queen, will be able to campaign and show their PCC pride and support at each Winterfest event. The crowns will be announced at weeks end during the Men’s basketball game against Cloud Community College on Jan. 27 during half-time.

PCC Winterfest kicks off the week with an evening of entertainment as we host a Talent Show in Carpenter Auditorium. The Talent Show, emceed by Miss Kansas, Krystian Fish, is open to community members and college students who would like to share their talent. There will be prizes for the Talent Show winners including visa gift cards of  $150 for first place, $75 for second and $25 for third . If you are interested in participating please contact Keefer via email at charlesk@prattcc.edu for an entry form. Entry forms are due on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The following evening things heat up as PCC students and community are invited to rally around a bonfire to show our pride and support for our upcoming wrestling match against Barton Community College on Thursday, Jan. 25.
