Softball and N.O.Tonkawa Trade Wins

The Beavers get first win of early season thanks to late double, playing Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa at Pratt with a final score of 8-3.

The Beavers and N.O. Tonkawa traded the lead four times on Feb. 27, but Pratt ended up on top in seven innings. The Beavers finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. The Beavers went up for good on a three-run double by Summer Snyder scoring Cassie Kelly, Peyton Jones and Stephanie Seewer.

Kelly racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Beavers. She doubled in the fifth inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Fern Garcia got the win for the Beavers. She allowed three runs over seven innings. She struck out one, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
Northern Oklahoma scored one run in the first, followed it with one in the third and one in the fifth.

The fifth spelled defeat for Northern Oklahoma, as the Beavers grabbed the lead for good and got a strong finish from Garcia in the circle.

The Beavers dropped game two, losing 11-2 to N.O. Tonkawa despite Kelly's two-hit day at the dish.

Emily Wooldridge took the loss for The Beavers. She allowed 11 runs in five innings, walked nine and struck out none. N.O. Tonkawa never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring eight runs on a two-run double , a two-run error, and an RBI single.

The Beavers pushed across one run in both the first inning and the fifth. In the first, the Beavers scored on an RBI single by Kelly, scoring Kaci Copeland.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, the Beavers faced a 9-2 deficit. An RBI single by Kelly set off the Beavers rally. N.O. Tonkawa induced Cara Johnson to fly out to close things out.

Pratt starts the pre-season 1-5. They will travel to Hutchinson on March 4 and again hit the road on March 5 at Dodge City to begin conference play.
