Student Success Center

The Student Success Center is located in room 55 on the upper level of the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena. Services are available at no charge to all students who wish to discuss academic, personal or career matters or who need a variety of testing services.

Academic Advising
Academic advising is conducted primarily by PCC Instructors. The role of Advising and Counseling Services is to ensure advising information is correct and to provide placement testing (see below). During the summer and times of extended absence of Instructors (such as over Christmas and Spring break), the advising center will assist students in enrolling for the next term.

Counseling and Career Planning
Advising and Counseling Services is available to assist PCC students with services that enable them to explore career options and choose and prepare for a career. This office will also help you to secure employment or to pursue further education prior to employment.

Counseling services include personal counseling for students who may have problems adjusting to college, relationship problems with family or friends, or just want someone to listen. Referral services are available when additional counseling or services are required.

Academic counseling is offered to students to help them understand the various educational requirements needed to complete a course of study, along with transfer information. Our staff will help you determine colleges' and universities' suggested courses of study and how PCC courses will transfer.

Placement Testing Services
Many courses offered by PCC have prerequisites. Advising and Counseling Services helps students qualify for those courses that have a test score requirement. In general, all Math and English classes have prerequisites. If your ACT score is not high enough to meet the required score, you may come to our office and take the ASSET test for placement. Students who are not desiring to take Math and English courses are not required to test.
