PCC Rodeo Makes Strong Showing in Oklahoma
On Sept. 19, the Pratt Community College team traveled to Cherokee, Okla. for their first competition rodeo of the season.
"Our team had a strong showing on both the timed event and rough stock end of the arena, with two qualifiers advancing to the short round," said Head Coach Ryan Vander Pluym.
Sophomore Ryan Whetham placed in the average in the steer wrestling, while standout freshman Laramie Mosley clinched third overall in the bullriding.
"Our ladies had a case of bad luck and failed to advance to the short round, but I saw a lot of potential and look for them to be in the winners circle at our home rodeo this next weekend," said Vander Pluym. "Overall I feel we have the most talented team in my coaching career, and feel we have a viable chance of qualifying both teams for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. this summer."
The PCC Rodeo Team will produce the 45th Annual Pratt Community College Stanion Wholesale Electric Rodeo on Oct. 3 - 5. Tickets are on sale now at PCC and the Pratt Chamber of Commerce.
"We are looking forward to taking advantage of competing in our home arena and showcasing the talent that this region offers," said Vander Pluym.
