Race Car Project

The PCC race car project was started in 2002 by automotive instructor, Daryl Lucas, as a project for students desiring fabrication skills. In 2005, after many hours of research, engineering, and custom fabrication, PCC’s first finished product was ready for the track and car shows. The 2004 Supergas Mustang made its debut at the 2006 PCC Automotive annual car show. It is powered by a highly modified Ford 347 engine that produces 485 horsepower. Nearly 100 students were involved in the construction of this car along with the support of several members of the Pratt community. Since the car’s finish in 2005 it has been to many local car shows and has ran dozens of passes at the track in Great Bend

Due to the success of the Mustang, students have begun building a 1969 Camaro chassis. The construction of these projects has relied heavily on support from PCC, donations and support from community members, and funding from live work done by students.

The automotive program plans to carry on this tradition giving students an interactive education, providing skills and knowledge they can bring to the industry.
