MISSION STATEMENT

The Accounting and Business Department of Pratt Community College has a mission of providing students educational experiences and opportunities to meet their diverse and changing needs. The Accounting and Business Department offers courses that enable the student to transfer to a four-year college or university or to prepare for and obtain employment. It also provides continuous training and education, which allows professionals to update their skills and remain competitive in the job market.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Students in required computer class will demonstrate 80% of the computer competencies.
  2. Associate of Science business graduates will successfully transfer to a four-year college or university.
  3. Students completing an Associate of Applied Science degree desiring to enter the world of work will find employment in their field.

Business classes offered to work in office setting

Pratt Community College’s business department has a diverse program that traditional students and as well as those wanting to go back to school will find helpful once they get into the workforce.

Holloway juggled job, college to achieve her dreams

Thinking that college would never be an option for her, Jennifer Holloway worked a couple different minimum wage jobs after high school before becoming a secretary in the business department at Pratt Community College.

Once she started working at the college, many of the faculty and staff encouraged Holloway to start working towards a degree.

Business class comes up with marketing plan to promote products

Knowing about the product, the group that is being targeted and the budget are all things this semesters Intro to Business class had to consider when making a marketing plan.

Junnae Landry had her student’s breakup into groups and pick a product which they wanted to come up with a marketing plan for. They also had to be able to visually display it in the case by room 24.
