By:Patrick Hall Tuesday, 1 April, 2008 If you like offense, it was a good day to be at Angood Field, as the PCC Softball Team swept Colby Community College 9-5 and 16-12 in two games that featured dramatic home runs and saw the PCC home run record fall when Jennifer Reifschneider hit her 11th and 12th of the season. In the first contest, Pratt was down 5-1 in the 6th, but closed to 5-4 with the aid of Danielle Leal's two run homer. The Beavers then added another in the 7th to tie it up when Louisa Escobar singled in a run. In the bottom of the ninth, with the bases loaded, Brooke Bell hit a walk-off grand slam to end the game. It was in the second inning that Reifschneider broke Marla Kramer's 10 year-old record. Kramer, from Medicine Lodge, had set the record with 10 home runs in a season. Reifschneider hit number 11, then added number 12 in the second game. In the night's second contest, several Beavers hit well. Andrea McAfee went 3 for 4. Brooke Bell went 2 for 2, and Kadie Berlin hit 2 for 4. Hayley Hunsberger had an excellent game in center field, filling in for the injured Jenae Ricke. The Beavers are now 9-1 in conference play and remain in first place in the Jayhawk West, a spot they occupied all season. Pratt will be at home again on Thursday, in another conference match-up against Seward. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 3:00.
