PCC Women Fall to Seward

Despite leading the game with five minutes left to play, the PCC Beavers could not hang on and fell to visiting Seward County 67-59 on Wednesday night. The Beavers led by 31-30 at halftime.

The Women’s Basketball Team is clearly playing some of their best ball of the season, and at the right time. Pratt lost to nationally ranked Cloud on Saturday in a very close game. The Beavers tied Cloud in the second half. On Wednesday, Pratt completely frustrated the much taller Seward team, and led 54-53 with 5:30 remaining.

Pratt shot an incredible 47 percent from the field in the first half to Seward’s 39 percent. In the second half, however, the Beavers managed only 30 percent with Seward hitting 40. Pratt outrebounded the Saints 43 to 38.

Pratt was led by Liddy Friesen with 18, followed by Wyneisha Webb with 17. Ashley Scroggins added 10.

“We’re clearly playing the best basketball of our season right now,” said Head Coach Brooke Schwartz. “We’ve worked hard to make sure that our team understands that playing well at the end is all that matters. Without a doubt, we feel comfortable with anyone we face. We’re ready for the playoffs.”
