The PCC Track and Field team competed at the University of Nebraska-Kearney over President’s Day weekend, qualifying one high jumper for Nationals and putting together two more PR’s, one in shot put and another in the 55m.
Freshman Vondrell Harris, competing in his first meet of the season, high jumped his way to Nationals with a second place finish and a jump of 6'6.75". Freshman Curtis Little improved his best shot put of the year by almost 2 full feet, while teammate Curtis Colbert ran a personal best time in the 55m of 6.99.
"I was excited to get Vondrell out here and get him jumping,” said Head Coach Cyrus Hall. “He had an early season ankle injury and then the flu, so he’s had to fight to get back in the field. I knew he'd jump well, but I think he needed to see it himself."
The Beavers are now on their way to Manhattan, Kansas this Sunday the 24th for the Region VI/KJCCC Championships. Coach Hall is looking to have a full and healthy squad to take to Manhattan. The meet starts Sunday morning at 10am.
