In a packed Dennis Lesh Sports Arena, Alex Rivas-Sanchez was named Homecoming King 2008 and in an unprecidented tie, Ashely Scroggins and Luisa Escobar were named Homecoming Queens.

Scroggins, a sophomore from Mineral Springs, Ark., is a member of the women's basketball team. She has been involved with a variety of community service initiatives. In her interview, Scroggins highlighted participation in the Big Brothers and Big Sisters program as one highlight of her time in Pratt.

Escobar, a sophomore from Mexico City, Mexico, is a member of the softball team, a resident assistant, member of club international and a tutor. In her interview, Escobar noted that she enjoys her job as a tutor because she is able to help her fellow students.

Rivas-Sanchez, a sophomore from Santiago, Dominican Republic, is a member of the men's baskball team, a resident assistant and a member of club international. When asked about something that he would never forget about his time in Pratt, Rivas-Sanchez said the Greensburg tornado was something that had a major impact on him. He was among a group of first aid trained students who went to Greensburg that night. He said although he has seen hurricanes in the Dominican, this was so much worse and he will never forget it.

All of the final homecoming candidates participated in interviews with a judging panel.

Other finalists --all terrific representatives of PCC -- were: Lacey Olin, Toni Herman, Samantha King, Trey Lyman, Cole Davis, Scott Goodheart and Roman Lane.

The homecoming royalty was crowned and acknowledged by college president William Wojciechowski and wife Terri. Escobar was enroute to Pratt from softball games in Lamar, Colo. during the actual ceremony and was crowned on the Beaver Bus at that time by Coach Ron Hill (with a Burger King crown) and was properly crowned and congratulated by the Wojciechowskis upon arrival home.
