By:Patrick Hall Monday, 18 February, 2008 The Pratt Community College Women's Basketball Team pulled of the biggest Jayhawk Conference upset of the season on Saturday, as they held Hutchinson Community College to only 15 first half points, then held on for a 52 to 48 win. "This was the effort and the result we've always believed we're capable of," said Head Coach Brooke Schwartz. "And this comes at the right time of year, when we're headed into the playoff. We think we can play this kind of defense against anyone in the league, and when that happens we're competitive with everyone." That defensive effort held Hutch to only 15 first half points, including 1 for 11 from behind the arc and a total of only 25 percent from the field. Pratt was also only 1 for 11 from the three point arc, but hit 41 percent from the field. Pratt outrebounded Hutch for the game 37 to 31. Both teams had 20 turnovers and committed 15 fouls each. For the game Pratt shot 39 percent to Hutch's 36. Pratt hit 4 of 7 three pointers in the second half to raise their game total to 27 percent. Hutch got only manage 3 of 18 for 17 percent. Pratt struggled at the free throw line, hitting only 9 of 18. Hutch went 7 of 10. Pratt was led by Sasha Crosby and Lindsee Bachicha, both of whom had 11 points. Kelsey Slater contributed 8, and Wyneisha Webb had 7. Pratt travels to Dodge City for a 6:00 match-up on Wednesday. The men play at 8:00.
