With a respectable shooting performance and a substantial defensive effort, the PCC Women’s Basketball Team defeated the visiting Butler Grizzlies 71-61 in the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena on Wednesday night. The Beavers were led by Sydney Moore’s 20 point effort.

The Beavers were not particularly efficient from the field in the first half, shooting only 30 percent, but they hit 11 of 14 from the line for 79 percent. That was good enough to spot them a 31-28 half time lead.

By midway through the second half, Pratt had pulled out to a ten point lead and managed to maintain that for the remainder of the game. Pratt improved their field goal percentage to 37 percent, and hit a very respectable 73 percent from the line. The Beavers outrebounded the Grizzlies 45-41 for the game.

Sydney Moore had a near perfect night. She was 9 of 11 from the field and 1 of 2 from the line for her game high 20 points. Joining Moored in double figures was Sasha Crosby, with 2 of 6 from the field and 7 of 8 from the line. Ashley Scroggins led the cleaning effort with 11 rebounds.

Pratt’s record improves to 6-15. The Beavers will travel to Barton on Saturday for a 6:00 pm game. The men will follow at 8:00.
