The PCC Track and Field Team traveled to Kearney, Nebraska to compete in the Charlie Foster Open this past weekend at the University of Nebraska-Kearney. The Beavers showed marked improvement over their season opening performances.

Leading the way for the men were several middle distance and distance runners. Sophomore Coe Hawkins continued his impressive early run with a 17:43 effort in the 5000m run, good enough for 4th place. Shortly behind him in 7th place was fellow sophomore Joel Wallace.

Freshman Logan Keiswetter continued his solid season with two aggressive races. Keiswetter garnered 7th place in the 800m and 8th place in the mile. Freshman Chris Dunagan running his first race in almost two years stepped up with a 7th place finish in the 600 yard run. Meanwhile, Janet Suarez finished in 8th place in the girls 2 mile with a time of 13:25.

"I thought the meet went really well," said Head Coach Cyrus Hall. "We competed very hard and were successful in some events. Some of the kids are developing an aggressive, tough mentality. We've been working on the psychological aspects of running and the importance of mental preparedness. I really think it will pay off as the season continues."

The PCC Track Team heads north again next week to Crete, Nebraska, where they will compete in the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic on the campus of Doane College.
