Pratt Wrestling Falls to Labette

By:Patrick Hall Wednesday, 23 January, 2008

On Tuesday night, the #16 ranked Pratt Beavers traveled to Parsons, KS, to dual the #4 ranked Labette Cardinals. The Beavers spotted Labette 12 points due to two open weights in the Pratt line-up at 157 and 174, and came away with 39-6 loss.

“Scott Markey at 157 was out of the line-up due to strep throat, and at the moment we also just don’t have anyone to fill the void at 174,” said Head Coach Chas Thompson. “It’s tough going into a dual knowing you’re spotting a team12 points before you’ve even wrestled the first match. I just told the guys to take care of themselves and not worry about the team score tonight. Trying to play catch up for your team can get a wrestler in trouble if they’re spending the entire match trying big moves, so we just concentrated on the individual person tonight even though we were in a dual.”

The Cardinals dropped the Beavers 39-6 for the final score. Winning for the Beavers were Tommy Edgmon by dec. over Jared Denler 10-3, and Lorenzo Mundy by dec. over Aaron Hynick 7-6.

The Beavers will travel to Chanute Thursday night to dual Neosho Community College at 7:00. The Beavers will have the weekend off and then come back January 29th to dual Northern Iowa Area Community College at 6:30 in Baldwin, Kansas.
