“Each year we have several students that are recognized for their performance on the CAAP exam,” said Dennis Angle, Director of Advising Services which is the department at PCC responsible for administering the test. “However, this is the highest number of students we have ever had recognized at one time.”
The CAAP exam is required of all students completing their associate’s degree at PCC and is normally administered 2-3 weeks before graduation. It assesses what a student has learned from the institution in four areas – writing, mathematics, reading and critical thinking. While students are encouraged to do their best, the test is actually focused on providing feedback to institutions to show where students are receiving a high quality education and other areas where improvement is needed.
“There is still room for improvement, but we are confident that this is proof of the high quality of education students receive at our institution,” said Angle.
