Pratt county schools come together for concert

06 March 2014

The Pratt Community College Performing Arts Department will host the County Wide Choral Extravaganza on March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Carpenter Auditorium.

The concert will showcase the musical talents of Pratt county students from PCC and Skyline High School. During the evening, the choirs will sing separately and together, with additional performances by their show choirs.

“It gives all the high school and college students in Pratt County a chance to sing together and create a sense of camaraderie,” said J.J. Rupe, PCC music instructor.

Rupe said the concert will last about an hour and a half with students singing a wide variety of music. He said a few genres the three groups will sing include popular oldies, classical and spiritual music.

“It is important to us [Misty Beck and Rupe] that music students get a wide variety of musical experience, not only with the types of music they sing, but that they also get the chance to experience singing with other groups,” Rupe said.

Donations will be taken at the door. For more information about this event, contact Rupe at jeremyr@prattcc.edu.
