How and when will clinicals be scheduled?

Clinical affiliations have been established with facilities in south central Kansas. Clinicals will occur once a week with 10 or 12 hour shifts and may include evenings and possibly weekends.To find out more about clinicals, please click here.
 

Do all pre-requisites have to be completed before I submit my application?

No, however, pre-requisites must be successfully completed (with a "C" or better) prior on or before May 15 of program entry.  To be considered for admission, your PCC Nursing Application, TEAS-V ® scores, official high school transcript, and ALL official college transcripts (see Admission Requirements)  must be submitted to PCC Nursing Admissions.  Please note that those applicants that have all required documents to us on or before the deadline and have completed all of the coursework by the deadline are given first consideration. Others MAY be considered on a space available basis.

Do I have to come to the Pratt campus if I am in an online/hybrid program?

Yes.

Is the ADN online/hybrid program a self-paced program?

No.  Students must be self-motivated, have excellent computer skills, current e-mail and reliable internet service.
 

What kind of time commitment should I expect?

Students should expect to spend at least 30 hours per week on coursework. This does not include class time. Students should consider this commitment equal to a full time job.
 

Do I have to submit a high school transcript?

Yes, an official high school transcript, homeschool certificate or GED is a Pratt Community College degree completion requirement.

 
Would a copy of my transcripts from a former college suffice?

No. All transcripts must be the OFFICIAL transcripts from the college or colleges you attended and must be from all colleges you have ever attended. NO copies will be accepted.
 

Is the online/hybrid program all online?

No.

What do I do if my credit hours for a specific class are less than that which is required by PCC?

Send a syllabus for the year and term from your college to Nursing Admissions, along with a degree exception form (available online). You will be notified if it has been approved or denied. Please allow 4-6 weeks for review time.
 

Can paperwork be turned in after the deadline?

No. It will not be considered for the next class if it is turned in late.
 

 Do I need to re-apply if I am not accepted for the next program start date?

Yes. We want to know if you are still interested in our program. You can re-apply by completing the nursing application and mailing it to Nursing Admissions  to:  
Nursing Admissions, Pratt Community College, 348 NE SR 61, Pratt, KS, 67124 OR you may fax the nursing application to 620-450-2282.  If you have already paid the $25 nursing application fee you will not pay again. Please contract nursing admissions at nursinginfo@prattcc.edu for the most current information. 
 

What is the TEAS-V®?

Students applying for admission to the Nursing Program are required to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills V (TEAS-V® ). It is a multiple-choice assessment of basic academic knowledge in reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. Each of the sections are timed for a total of 209 minutes. You are limited to two attempts. The higher you score on the exam the better are your chances of  being accepted. Effective spring 2015, YOU MUST SCORE A MINIMUM OF 50 ON THE SCIENCE PORTION OF THE TEAS-V® TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM.

Please note:  We cannot accept TEAS-V® results from Trinity Washington University or I&J Educational Nursing Institute or from students.
 

Where do I schedule my TEAS-V®?

To schedule the TEAS-V® on the Pratt campus please call 620-450-2156.  To schedule a TEAS-V® in the Wichita area please contact 316-927-3780.  To schedule a TEAS-V® in the Winfield area please contact  620-221-2763 during the school year. Students who want to schedule one in Winfield during the summer, will have to travel to Wichita or Pratt. For information about testing in other areas please call 316-927-3780. Testing may take 3 to 4 hours therefore appointments are necessary.  Walk-ins are not allowed.
 

 When should I take the TEAS-V ®?

As soon as you have completed A&P and English Comp I, and have reviewed a study guide.  Practice tests may be found at www.atitesting.com OR if you do a search on Google you will find study resources.
 

How many times can I take the TEAS-V ®?

Two.
 

 Is there a minimum score that I can get on the TEAS-V ® and still be considered to get into the program?

Only for the science portion, which you must have  50 percent or higher.
 

 Do I need to take a PCC Nursing Transition or Bridge course?

Yes, if admitted, you will receive an acceptance letter explaining details about the course. The course must be successfully completed in order to secure your admission into the Nursing Program.

What if I fail the online portion of the program, am I eligible to reapply for the Online/Hybrid program?

Am I required to have a webcam and microphone headset?

Online/hybrid students are required to have a webcam and microphone headset if your computer doesn't have one.
 

Are ebooks required?

No. You have a choice of ebooks or printed books. Certain recommended books are only offered as ebooks.

Do I need a computer or tablet to complete the program?

You must have a computer, as the tablet doesn't work for all assignments. 
 

How long is the online program?

The online/hybrid program is comparable to the onsite program.  You would attend the program starting in August and ending in May.
 

What about travel?

We highly encourage those that make air and hotel travel arrangements to make sure that you choose refundable options as schedules are subject to change. All travel is at the student’s expense.  Students are encouraged to carpool when traveling out of town for class or clinical.
 

 How will I know if you received my information?

We will send you email verification when we process your application. It is your responsibility to make sure you have met admission requirements.


How do I know if I have been accepted into the program?

You will get an email telling you if you were or were not accepted.
