PRE-NURSING CURRICULUM APPLICATION REQUIREMENT (please refer to checklist available on nursing home page, this contains a list of all items needed in order to be considered)
You MUST have an Active Kansas LPN or Paramedic License on or before the deadline of the program in which you are applying. The license must be active throughout the program.
YOU MUST SCORE A MINIMUM OF 50 ON THE SCIENCE PORTION OF THE TEAS-V TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE NURSING PROGRAM. The TEAS-V may only be completed a total of two times.
YOU MUST BE READY FOR INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA----We encourage students to have a strong math and science background. We encourage students to successfully complete Chemistry.
Prerequisites and hours
ENG 176 English Composition I -3 credit hours
PSY 176 General Psychology -3 credit hours
BIO 278 Anatomy & Physiology* -5 credit hours (5 year expiration)
COM 131 Speech Communication (Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking (COM 276) also accepted -3 credit hours
PSY 132 Developmental Psychology -3 credit hours
BIO 165 Microbiology* - 5 credit hours (5 year expiration) Microbiology is a co-req but it is highly recommended that the course be completed prior to entering the nursing program.
If you graduated from your LPN school OR Paramedic program 3 or more years ago you will need Pharmacology. Pharmacology has a 3 year expiration
Once accepted but prior to first Nursing Course students must take:
NUR 201: Transition -1 credit hours
NUR 204 Nursing III: Didactic - 6 credit hours
NUR 207 Nursing III: Clinical - 4 credit hours
HOC 125 Leadership & Management for Health Careers - 2 credit hours
NUR 218 Nursing IV: Didactic - 6 credit hours
NUR 221 Nursing IV: Clinical 4 credit hours
IDS 297 NCLEX-RN(R) Review Course - 1 credit hours
Must take at least one additional credit hour to be eligible for financial aid.
* Must have been completed within the last 5 years of program start date.
Students must receive a "C" or better in the general education classes listed above; all are prerequisites.

- Completion of prerequisites does not guarantee admission into the nursing program.
General Education Courses toward BSN---- Suggestions would be the following:
College Algebra, Sociology, Nutrition, General Chemistry, English Comp II, Biology, Humanities, Statistics, and more.
