Men's Soccer Competes in Spring Tournament

16 April 2014

Your Pratt men’s soccer team competed in a 6v6 outdoor tournament at McPherson College on April 12. Two teams composed of Pratt players competed against a field of 22 total teams representing NCAA D-I and D-II, NAIA, NCSAA, and NJCAA competitive and club programs.

In Pool A, PCC defeated Emporia State 9-4, lost to McPherson College 5-1 and defeated Kansas State - Salina 16-4.

In Pool D, PCC lost to Southwestern College 8-7, defeated Central Christian College 12-3 and tied 6-6 against the FC Gatos Verdes, the McPherson College Alumni team.

"Overall, both teams played well and it was a great learning experience for not only me as a coach but also for the players returning," said Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "They faced a level of competition that they would not normally see and most rose to the occasion and represented Pratt Community College very well. The tournament also provided a chance for our players to be recruited and scouted by other four year institutions. Callum Strang, Manuel Miranda-Cortez, Jonathon Callaghan, Luis Soto, David and Sam Nobo and Gregory Roller were the players who were either offered a scholarship or asked to set up visits for further consideration. This is a great sign for things to come."

Both Pratt men's and women's soccer will wrap up their Spring 2014 Campaign with a match at Central Christian College in Winfield, Kan. at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
