PCC Soccer Players Honored
Pratt Community College is proud to announce that two members of the soccer team, Lauren Snyder and Jonothan Callaghan, have been named to the 2013 Jayhawk All-Conference team.
Snyder is a freshman forward from Broomfield, Colo. and received honorable mention for her for her eight goals and three assists during the 2013 season. Snyder is the first field player in PCC women’s soccer history to be honored on the All-Conference team.
“Lauren was an incredible asset this year,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Jerrid Schicke. “Truthfully, I anticipated her playing in more of a supporting role. But when offensive output was low, she rose to the challenge. She had a good year and I expect next year to be even better.”
Callaghan, a sophomore defender from Falkirk, Scotland, also received honorable mention.
“This year I’ve learned a lot about the importance of hard work, even if you’re losing,” said Callaghan. “I couldn’t have gotten here without the help from my team and my coach. He pushed me.”
Callaghan will graduate from Pratt Community College in May and plans to transfer to a four year university to continue playing soccer as he completes his education.
“I’m happy for him but I’m sad to see him go,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Kevin Edwards. “Not only is he a leader but he’s technically gifted. These qualities are rare and make him a joy to have on the team. He’s going on to bigger and better things, and the program that gets him next year is going to be extremely lucky.”
