Former State Budget Director speaks on PCC’s campus

03 October 2014

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, Duane Goossen, former state budget director in the administrations of three governors, Republican Bill Graves and Democrats Kathleen Sebelius and Mark Parkinson came to Pratt Community College’s campus to speak about the state’s current budget situation.

“He was a great speaker,” said Michele Hamm, current PCC board president. “He spoke about the budget in a way that made sense to everyone.”

Between 80 and 100 people in the community showed up Tuesday night to hear what Goossen had to say about the budget.

Goossen has received a National Association of Budget Directors award for career achievements.

The meeting was organized by County Commissioner Glenna Borho, commissioners in Harper and Kingman counties, and the Pratt Area Chamber of Commerce. Goossen spoke at a meeting of the Kansas Association of Counties earlier this year.

After the presentation, everyone who attended was invited over to the Delmer Riney Art Gallery for a reception.
