Macksville Students Earn OSHA 10 Certifications

Five high school students from Macksville, KS earned OSHA 10 safety certifications through Pratt Community College.

The students are enrolled in Welding and Ag Power Technology courses, and an OSHA 10 safety certification gives them an important start in industry.

PCC Faculty Meet with Students at Wichita Car Show

Pratt Community College Automotive Technology instructors had the opportunity to meet with high school students, their instructors and the general public at the Cars for Charities Rod and Custom Car Show at Century II in Wichita, KS.

PCC Faculty gave an entertaining back-and-forth banter as their presentation, discussing the opinionated pros and cons of the technology between a 1931 Model A Sports Coupe and a 2021 Mach E Ford Mustang.

High School Automotive Students Earn ASE Certifications through PCC

Two PCC Automotive Technology students earned certifications from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) in Steering and Suspension.

Mitchell Partridge (left) is a senior at Norwich High School and Tanner Clark (right) is a senior at Kingman High School.

Both are taking Career Technical Education (CTE) courses through Pratt Community College, which allow students the opportunity to get a jump start on a career by earning college credit and certifications while still in high school.

Prosser Retires from PCC After 41 Years

Lorraine Prosser spent 41 years with Pratt Community College.

During her time at PCC, she held positions in the offices of the Registrar, Admissions, Financial Aid, and was most recently always a friendly face at the Switchboard, also known as PCC’s grand central station.

A retirement reception was held in her honor on campus to wish her well in her next chapter.

Lorraine plans to work on her health and spend time with family and loved ones. We are grateful to Lorraine and her many years of service at PCC!

High School Welding Students Earn Certifications in Kingman
December 20, 2021

Students in the Kingman High School Welding Program in conjunction with Pratt Community College, received their first round of certifications this semester.

They received certifications in OSHA 10 and Thermal Cutting (Oxyfuel, Plasma Arc, and Carbon Arc). They will also be receiving dual certifications with NC3 Lincoln Electric, and American Welding Society (AWS).

This is a great achievement for the students, as this will be a huge asset to them for future employment. The Welding Technology program at Kingman High School is led by instructor Jason Birkenbaugh.

PCC Hosts Area Officials at Legislative Luncheon

The purpose of the Legislative Luncheon on campus at Pratt Community College is to engage in conversations about important issues surrounding community colleges, and specifically PCC.

The Legislative Luncheon is held annually in December, hosting area legislators, both Senators and Representatives, and other community officials.
