Along with a great team of three PCC STEM club students, PCC faculty members Jason Ghumm, Justin Maughan and Paul Primrose presented the wonders of science in an hour long science show to about forty 3rd and 4th grade kids at the Pratt Public Library on the 20th of April. 

It was the second science show of its kind in the spring of 2023. Judging from the many subsequent comments kids shared with Eric Killough, the director of the Pratt Public Library, it seems that the science show was a great hit.

Pratt Community College welcomed more than two hundred graduates and their families to campus on Friday May 12, 2023. Two ceremonies were held at 1pm and 3pm.

PCC graduate Randi Hoffman walked in the 3pm Commencement ceremony with an Associate of Science degree in Biology...and then graduated from Skyline High School a few days later.

The Electrical Power Technology (EPT) lineman training program on the Pratt campus is full for the 2023-2024 academic year.

However, due to continued interest in the Dodge City and Wichita locations, an additional EPT tour date has been added for June 9th at 8:30am.

A tour of the facilities in Pratt with an EPT instructor is a mandatory part of the admissions process for each location.

Spring 2023

For the past couple months, the sophomore Guiding in the Outdoors class has been planning a backcountry hunting trip to the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. The Gila was one of the first wilderness areas established in the United States and totals roughly 3.3 million acres. The class went to pursue Merriam’s turkey, a high elevation bird primarily found in the western mountain regions of the United States.

Have you heard the news? Pratt CC has a new student-led STEM club ! And they’re taking the middle school science circuit by storm teaching all about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

PCC students Bella Crowell, Marcus Pollard, Kailey Barnard, Max Moreno and Maddy Reeves traveled to Cunningham, KS to put on a science show for 4th, 5th and 6th graders along with PCC science faculty Paul Primrose, Jason Ghumm and Justin Maughan.

ITC Great Plains is a large utility company in Kansas, operating power transmission infrastructures, serving parts of Kansas and Oklahoma.

They have long-recognized the quality of instruction and workforce preparation of students in the Electrical Power Technology (EPT) program based at Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kansas.

ITC Great Plains visits the Pratt campus every year to support the program in the form of rewarding scholarships to EPT students.
