Students recognized for hard work

27 August 2013

Pratt Community College had two Electrical Power Technology students recognized for their hard work in the classroom on Aug. 23, when they were each given a $1,000 scholarship.

Logan Dreier, Olpe, Kan., and Michael Hartley, of Elsberry, Mo., both sophomores, received the scholarships from ITC of Great Plains, which is a dependent high voltage electrical company.

"Students in the lineman program are very important to us because we have more than 400,000 retirements planned in this country in the next decade," said Kristine Schmidt, President of ITC Great Plains. "It is important that we now we have bright, young people coming in with hard work and dedication."

Dave Campbell, head of the EPT program said he nominated the two students for the scholarship.

"Both students worked very hard in the classroom and in the lab," he said. "They are both very dedicated students and I felt they were both very deserving of this award."

Both students had internships this past summer and are excited to graduate in May.
