Pratt Native Jodi Ray to Display Art
During the month of October, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will display the work of featured artist Jodi Ray.
Ray’s collection features a mixture of art styles and media, including portraits, abstract images, and pencil drawings.
“Art keeps me sane and feeds my soul,” said Ray. “My eyes see art everywhere! My mom recognized that I had an artistic ability when she saw one of my first pieces that I did in middle school, which was a pencil drawing of myself as a baby. I was never the studious type and my art teacher in high school told me I was 'wasting a talent' when I turned down an art scholarship - still one of my biggest regrets! I have taken a few college classes but for the most part I am self taught. Now older and wiser, I have chosen to no longer waste my talent but embrace it!"
Ray says she is excited to be teaching classes through the Vernon Filley Art Museum and creating and sharing art in the community.
Ray and her husband Kendall are both Pratt natives and have two sons, Jaxon and Parker. Ray has worked for Hair Etc. for the past 12 years.
The Delmar Riney Art Gallery is located in the Riney Student Center at Pratt Community College. The hours are Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or by appointment. For more information about the gallery or to make an appointment, please call (620) 450-2184.
