Rules for the 2008 Ag Olympics This is a team competition, with 4 people on each team. Each team will compete in a series of events with points to be awarded for placings in each event. The team with the highest point total wins. In case of ties, the first tie breaker will be scores on the dummy roping. The second tie breaker will be the Bale Stacking event score. In timed events, 10 points will be awarded the first place team; 7 points for second; 4 points for third; 2 points for fourth; and 1 point for fifth place. Events for the 2008 Ag Olympics • Team Skiing • Bale Stacking • Show Stick Flip • Horse Shoe Toss • Wheel Barrow Egg Toss • Hay Bale Roll • Calf Bottle Assemble • Dummy Roping Rules for Individual Events Team Skiing – All 4 members compete as a team in this event. Points will be awarded for the shortest elapsed time covering a certain distance. More than one team will be on the course at the same time, but each team is competing against the clock. Bale Stacking – The team will move 8 square bales a short distance and stacked them 2 high. This will be a timed event, with points awarded for the shortest elapsed time. Show Stick Flip – This is a timed event. All 4 members of the team will be given a show stick. Each person will have to flip the stick across a line by putting one leg behind the other and putting the point of the show stick on the toe of the boot on their back leg, then using the back leg to kick the show stick forward. The team time will continue until all team members have kicked their show stick across the event distance. Points will be awarded for the shortest elapsed time. Horse Shoe Toss – Each member of the team will be given 2 horseshoes to toss in into a 5 gallon bucket, without knocking the bucket over. Each team will be awarded one point for each horseshoe on the bucket. A bonus point will be given if the team can get all of their horseshoes in the bucket without knocking it over. Wheel Barrow Egg Toss – All 4 members of the team will compete in this event. Two people will push the wheel barrows; the other two will ride. The starting position will be two wheelbarrows facing each other 10 feet apart. One rider tosses an egg to the other. If the toss is successful (without breaking the egg), then the team moves back 5 feet, and repeats the toss. This continues until the team’s egg breaks. Points will be awarded to the team with the longest successful throw. Hay Bale Roll – This is a timed event, over a measured distance. The team will have to roll a big round bale from one point to another. Points will be awarded for the shortest elapsed time. Calf Bottle Assemble – This is a timed event. There will be 4 calf bottles and nipples in a tub of water. The team will have to assemble all four before their team time is completed. Points will be awarded for the shortest elapsed time. Dummy Roping – Each member will have 2 loops to rope a roping dummy. To be awarded points the throw must be a legal head catch (over both horns or completely over the head). 2 points will be awarded for each successful loop, for 8 possible points for this event.
