Equipment donated to PCC auto department

24 January 2012

Last week the Pratt Community College auto department received a Hunter OCL400 on-car break lathe through a donation.
Mike's Service and Repair, owned by Mike Jacobs, in Medicine Lodge donated the equipment.
"Mike is a member of the PCC auto advisory community and is an advocator of the program," said Daryl Lucas, auto instructor. "He is always willing to help with recruiting and funding."
Lucas said that with this donation, the department will now have two machines for students to use when learning about breaks. According to Lucas, this piece of equipment is a different brand than the one they currently have and will allows students to learn on two different machines that will operate differently.
"Receiving this equipment is really going to help my guys," he said. "It's a great addition to our shop."
The equipment is used to finish the surface of the brake rotors so the brake pads ride smooth on the rotor to help obtain smooth breaking.
