Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame Inducts PCC Athletic Director Kurt McAfee

Pratt Community College Athletic Director Kurt McAfee was inducted into the Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame on March 26. The induction ceremony was held in KGSO Radio Studios in Wichita, Kan. and McAfee’s induction was carried live on KGSO Radio.

McAfee began his officiating career in the 1980s by working basketball games and went on to a long officiating career in profession arena football, college and high school football. He worked the NJCAA football championship game. He also officiated the NJCAA national basketball tournament, and has worked over 30 KSHSAA basketball, football and softball championships.

"When Paul Savage first contacted me, I thought he was pulling my leg," said McAfee. "I don’t deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as these great players. I am sure they made a mistake but I am honored."

Founded in 1980, the Wichita Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame includes past inductees such as Antione Carr, Darnell Valentine, Jamie Thompson, Greg Drieling, Aubrey Sherrod, Maurice Evan, Karema Williams, Mark Standiford, Lafayette Norwood, Joanna McFarland, Cleo Little, Darnel and Todd Dreifort and Barry Sanders.

The additional 2014 Wichita Biddy Basketball Hall of Fame Inductees are as follows:

Matt Byers- Matt played Biddy Basketball in 1990s and continued his basketball career at Wichita East High School. Matt went on to an outstanding track career at the University of Iowa, winning a Big 10 Conference javelin championship three straight years.

Jim Petrich - Coach Petrich coached boys and girls basketball for 11 years from 1991 to 2001, touching lives of many young people. He produced many athletes that went on to success in not only basketball but other sports as well. His best Biddy Basketball teams placed second at the Biddy Basketball National Championship

Chris Wimmer - Chris played several years of Biddy Basketball. After Biddy, Chris went on to a great baseball career at Wichita East High School, Wichita State University and professional baseball.

Susan Woolf - One of the female all-time greats in Biddy Basketball, she played several years with the boys, until Biddy started girls Biddy. She was an All-American and Miss Biddy during the late 1980s. She became Andover High School’s leading scorer of all time and #5 all-time scorer at Idaho University.
